Chag Purim Sameach! We hope everyone had a wonderful Purim filled with meaningful Megillah readings, creative costumes and delicious hamantaschen! Maybe you’ve also been reflecting on past Purim celebrations in our community. Check out just a few of the photos we found in our archive.
Spot any faces you recognize? Or do you have a fond memory from Purim you’d like to share? Leave us a comment below and let us know. We’d also LOVE to see any photos you have in your own collection, even photos from this year!
I don't have any photos, but I have memories of going to Sinai Synagogue with my family in the 1970's to hear the Megilla. One year I dressed as Moshe Dayan, complete with an eye patch! As the children paraded around the sanctuary during the reading, making noise when Haman's name was read, the adults showered us with candy.
For a number of years, the Purim carnival featured a cake walk. I never understood the connection with Purim, but thought it was fun to walk in a circle on the stage, and hope that when the music stopped, I would be standing on the number they called, so I would win the cake. One year, I did!
